Coronavirus claims five more lives in Sindh

KARACHI: The Sindh Health Department has registered five more deaths in the Sindh province due to the coronavirus, out of which four were recorded in Karachi and one in Larkana.

Media Coordinator to the Health Minister, Meeran Yousuf, said that a total of 176 deaths had been registered across the province out of which 154 deaths were recorded in Karachi, six each in Sukkur and Hyderabad, two each in Sanghar and Larkana, and one each in Badin, Shaheed Benazirabad, Tando Muhammad Khan, Matiari, Shikarpur, and Ghotki.

She informed that 598 more coronavirus cases emerged across the province in the 24 hours, and a total of 9,691 COVID-19 cases have been detected in Sindh since 26 February 2020 to date.

She informed that 7,575 patients are still under treatment in Sindh while 1,940 had recovered from the disease. She further reported that 8,878 out of a total of 9,691 are locally transmitted cases in the Sindh province.

She said about 81,610 tests had been performed in Sindh so far, out of which 9,691 tested positive.

A total of 26,806 coronavirus cases had been reported in Pakistan, out of which 10,033 were reported in Punjab, 9,691 in Sindh, 4,327 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 1,725 in Baluchistan, 394 in Gilgit- Baltistan, 558 in Islamabad, and 78 in Azad Jammu Kashmir. A total of 7,530 had recovered from disease in the country.

A total of 611 deaths due to the coronavirus have also been registered in Pakistan, out of which 176 were in Sindh, 215 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 190 in Punjab, 23 in Baluchistan, four in Islamabad, and three in Gilgit-Baltistan.

The number of confirmed fatalities from the novel coronavirus worldwide has risen to 271,995. More than 3,954,826 declared cases had been registered across the world. Of these cases, at least 1,361,994 are considered recovered.
