KARACHI: The Health Sciences Faculty, Bahria University (BU) recently organised the Commencement Day and White Coat Ceremony of BDS 10th batch.
Vice Admiral (R) Khalid Amin HI (M), Director General Bahria University Medical & Dental College (BUMDC), Karachi, honoured the ceremony with his presence as a chief guest.
Prof. Wahab Buksh Kadri, Principal Dental College, BUMDC and Prof. Ambreen Usmani, Dean Faculty Health Sciences, Bahria University, gave the welcome address.
Prof. Kulsoom Fatima Rizvi, Vice Principal Dental Section, BUMDC, gave a detailed overview of the academic years of BDS's study program, the institute's infrastructure, and its accomplishments. She further enlightened the audience about the faculty development programs through workshops and seminars conducted annually.
A short video clip of a journey towards ten years of establishment in making this institute was displayed before the audience. The chief guest addressed the gathering giving students a warm welcome and guiding parents and guardians to remain vigilant with the policies and rules set by the system and keep an eye on students' performance throughout their academic period. He advised students to remain devoted to the profession by showing hard work and discipline.
The senior faculty presented white coats to the newly inducted students in the world of dentistry as a tradition. Oath-taking was also an integral part of the ceremony. Prof. Wahab Buksh Kadri took oath from newly inducted dental students.
Later, a sign-in ceremony was held for students and their parents as a symbol of becoming part of BUMDC.
