KARACHI – Taking a strong notice of illegal and unauthorized nursing training centres and sale of fake medicines, Sindh Minister for Health Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has warned the officials concerned to bring an end to these unlawful activities, or else stern action would be taken against them.

He gave these directives while presiding over a meeting of health department’s officials at his office. Special Secretary (Health) Dr Riaz Memon and Additional Secretary Dabeer Ahmed were also present on the occasion.

The minister deplored that although a number of illegal nursing training centres are operating in the city, there is no proper check and balance over them.

Referring to reports that fake medicines were being sold in the market, he said that such unlawful practice clearly indicated that drug inspectors were not performing their duties honestly and diligently.

The minister directed the secretary health to take strict action against the concerned officials for not taking proper action against all those running unauthorized nursing centres and the medical stores for selling fake medicines.

He asked the secretary health to probe the matter and submit a detailed report to him within a fortnight.
