KARACHI: Colgate’s week-long Annual Dental Health Awareness Programme helped promote oral health among schoolchildren across Pakistan, in collaboration with Bahria University Dental College (BUDC).

In Karachi, 10 teams of healthcare professionals, including faculty, house officers, and BDS students, visited different schools and conducted free dental checkups and promoted good oral hygiene practices.

The programme began at Bahria College DHA Campus, where Dr. Mohsin Haider and Dr. Rabbia Imtiaz Ahmad, along with their team, examined 1,000 children aged 3 to 6. The young students received personalised oral hygiene advice, and their oral health conditions were carefully recorded.

On Day 2, the teams split up to visit DHACSS Phase VII and DHACSS Tooba campuses, where they examined 500 students between the ages of 5 and 12. The teams, led by Dr. Mohsin and Dr. Rabbia, conducted intraoral examinations and shared valuable dental care tips with the students.

Day 3 saw a return to DHACSS Tooba Campus, where the teams provided dental care to another 1,000 children, aged 7 to 14, continuing their efforts to promote healthy smiles.

On Day 4, the teams visited Nasra School Korangi Campus, offering free dental checkups to 1,100 students, aged 6 to 15. Led by Dr. Rabbia, the initiative received positive feedback from both students and staff.

The programme concluded on Day 5 with visits to Taleemgah Dukhtaran-E-Awam Trust Girls High School and The Academy, Defence View Campus. At each school, Dr. Mohsin and Dr. Rabbia, alongside their teams, conducted dental checkups for 500 students, delivering essential dental care and hygiene instructions to children aged 3 to 10.

By the end of the week, over 4,100 students in Karachi had received free dental checkups, helping to raise awareness of the importance of oral health.
