KARACHI: Rotary International Inner Wheel Club Karachi Universal, District 327, recently invited Prof. Dr. Farzeen Tanwir, Head of the Periodontology Department at Bahria University Health Sciences, to speak at Bint-e-Fatima Old Age Home for Women.
During her visit, Dr. Tanwir emphasized the critical role of oral health in enhancing the overall well-being and quality of life for older adults.
She explained that age-related changes, such as reduced saliva production and altered oral hygiene routines, increase the risk of dental problems like tooth decay and gum disease in the elderly.
Dr. Tanwir urged the residents to prioritise oral care, highlighting that regular dental check-ups, a balanced diet, and proper oral hygiene can significantly improve health, confidence, and social interactions as one ages.
At the event, Colgate toothbrushes and toothpaste samples were distributed among the elderly residents. Donations from the Inner Wheel Club were also given to the Bint-e-Fatima Foundation.
Ms Farzana Shoaib, Founder of the Bint-e-Fatima Foundation, along with the Inner Wheel Club members, thanked Dr. Tanwir for delivering informative session, which provided valuable insights for the attendees.
