LAHORE: The 9th International PAO (Pakistan Association of Orthodontists) preconference orthodontic treatment planning and discussion session was held recently at the University College of Dentistry, The University of Lahore.
The honorable president of the PAO, Professor Dr Syed Shah Faisal was the chief guest accompanied by general secretary PAO, Prof Dr Rozina Nazir. The worthy Principal, UCD, Professor Dr Riaz Ahmad Warraich, Professor Dr Ch Rehan Qamar (HOD Orthodontics, UCD), Professor Dr Fareeha Bokhari (Department of Orthodontics, UCD) were among the distinguished facilitators of the session.
The panelists were invited from Dental Colleges across the country, there were National and International speakers, that were part of the session. Various Orthodontic cases were presented and more than 100 participants attended the session. The treatment plan for the patients were discussed and it was a great learning opportunity for everyone as there were post graduates trainees and professors directly interacting with one another. Some of the complex cases were discussed which included Class I, II, III malocclusions. Professor Dr Ch Rehan Qamar gave an insight on some of the cases and how to treat patients with different orthodontic appliances. A very intricate and last resort to correct skeletal abnormalities is Orthognathic surgery, that was discussed in full detail by Professor Dr Riaz Ahmad Warraich.
Prof Dr Mehwish Arooj (Principal UCMD) also graced the occasion with her presence and lauded the efforts of the Administration UCD and department of Orthodontics in bringing so many clinical experts under one roof for this session. She along with Prof Dr Riaz Ahmad Warraich gifted the esteemed speakers with plaques as a memento to remember the event by.
