DRAP recall alert for five contaminated products

ISLAMABAD: The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has issued an immediate recall alert for five drug products due to contamination concerns. 
The affected products include Cestonil Plus syrup, Texcol DM syrup, Speczine syrup, Aphylin syrup, and Zolint suspension. 
The contamination, involving ethylene glycol and di-ethylene glycol, was detected by the Directorate of Drugs Control (DDC) in Punjab and confirmed by Drug Testing Laboratories (DTLs).
DRAP has advised healthcare professionals and consumers to discontinue use of Cestonil Plus syrup (batch 061357) – Thiamine, Riboflavin, Pyridoxine, Nicotinamide (M/s Razzee Therapeutics, Lahore), Texcol DM syrup (batch 09980) – Dextromethorphan (M/s Razzee Therapeutics, Lahore), Speczine syrup (batch 280 287) – Promethazine (M/s Spectrum Laboratories, Lahore), Aphylin syrup (batch 24B056) – Aminophylline, Diphenhydramine, Ammonium HCl (M/s Obsons Pharmaceuticals, Lahore), Zolint suspension (batch 24003) – Furazolidone, Metronidazole (M/s Libra Pvt. Ltd, Peshawar)
DRAP has urged consumers to stop using these products immediately due to the serious health risks posed by the contamination and to report any adverse reactions to the health authorities.
