Fire Breaks Out in JPMC’s Emergency Department

KARACHI- Earlier, during morning hours, fire broke out at the Accident and Emergency Department of  Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), which forced the patients to evacuate the emergency department.


According to the official sources of JPMC, the fire broke out in their Emergency Department due to short-circuit, which was extinguished by the rescue staff in time, and no major damage occurred to any person or hospital property. Though the heavy smoke did cause panic within patients and staff present in the emergency department at that time.


The rescue workers promptly shifted the patients and helping staff  to the other departments.


The sources also disclosed that an investigation was underway, to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.


Executive Director, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), Dr. Seemin Jamali, stated that, fire erupted in the Emergency Department of the hospital, due to which two stretchers got burnt but fortunately no major damage was done.


She also added that, all the emergency patients were swiftly shifted to other departments and emergency services resumed soon after fixing the unforeseen situation.
