QUETTA- Department of Community & Preventive Dentistry, Bolan Medical College Quetta; held an “Oral Health Awareness Program” at Railway Girls High School Quetta. The aim of such programs was to improve oral hygiene & education and bring positive changes in their habits to maintain oral cleanliness among school children.
The 2nd Professional BDS students participated in the session. Each student was given a topic on prevention of oral diseases and common oral habits among children that affect their oral health. The program included practical demonstration, presentations and videos on dietary habits and maintenance of oral hygiene. The students had prepared a large number of posters which were later handed over to school authorities for display in classrooms. At the end of each session, the audience was asked questions and was given prizes for correct answers.
On this occasion, the head of the Department of Community & Preventive Dentistry, Prof Dr Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Baloch stated that dental disease leaves a negative impact on our wellbeing and quality of life informing that tooth decay is the most common childhood disease and is almost 100% preventable.
The Principal of the girls School thanked Prof Dr Mujeeb Baloch, Associate Prof Dr Hammal Naseer, Assistant Professor Dr Ashfaq Khawaja Khail; and the demonstrators Dr Shoaib Aziz; Dr Erum Sami and Dr Mehwish Jaffrey for their sincere efforts and selecting her school to conduct the program. She also sought the attention of the authorities concerned to organize, in future, such informative programs for the children helping them develop healthy oral hygiene.
