INTERNATIONAL THALASSAEMIA DAY - Blood donation camp held at WMDC

ABBOTTABAD - Women Medical and Dental College (WMDC), Abbottabad, observed “International Thalassaemia Day”.

A blood donation camp was also organized on the occasion by The Change Foundation, WMDC in collaboration with Abbottonian Medical Association run by Dr Noman Siddique.

Students and faculty members donated blood and took part in an interactive session held to highlight the importance of the `International Thalassaemia Day.

Speaking on the occasion, the WMDC’s director Dr. Adnan Bashir said that thalassaemia is treatable, but its treatment is expensive.

The Change Foundation’s chairman and Women Dental Section’s vice principle Dr Shahid Khan said: “Saving someone’s life doesn’t require a degree, it is all about willingness and how you feel about it.”

He also appreciated the girls for organsing a successful blood donation camp, saying “these social services are part of your degree as well as your lives.” 

The more blood people donate the more lives they could save, he remarked.
