ISLAMABAD - Margalla Institute of Health Sciences, one of the leading and pioneer educational institutes in dental and physiotherapy held its first convocation at Pak-China Friendship Centre, Islamabad for the graduates of Bachelors in Dental Surgery (BDS) and Bachelors in Science in Physiotherapy (BSPT) affiliated with University of Health Sciences, Lahore and Riphah International University, Islamabad respectively.
The convocation proceedings were declared open by Dr. Abdul Qadir, Chairman Margalla Institute of Health Sciences. The occasion was graced by the Vice Chancellor of University of Health Sciences Lahore, Maj Gen. (R) Prof. Muhammad Aslam and Vice Chancellor of Riphah International University Islamabad, Prof. Dr. Anis Ahmed, who conferred BDS and BSPT degrees to 188 dental graduates and 41 BSPT graduates respectively.
Chairman MIHS, Dr. Abdul Qadir presented Gold Medals, Shields and Certificates of honour to 44 best graduates, university position holders and university subject distinction holders respectively. The convocation ceremony was attended by a large no of guests of graduating students and dignitaries.
Both the Vice Chancellors congratulated the graduating students and their parents with an advice for further pursuance of higher education in their respective fields and to serve their country in this time of need.
Maj Gen. (R) Prof. Muhammad Aslam focused on various fields of dentistry and their dearth in the country and concluding his speech with strategies to encounter these issues. Prof. Dr. Anis Ahmed stressed on the moral duties of doctors to the humanity and mankind and advised the graduates to play their role with sincerity to their profession, religion, mankind and above all their country Pakistan.
Both the VC’s congratulated Dr. Abdul Qadir and all faculty of Margalla Institute of Health Sciences for holding such an organized and well decorated event. Dr. Abdul Qadir, Chairman MIHS offered shields to both the VC’s as a vote of thanks and acknowledgment for sparing time on this auspicious occasion.
Margalla Alumni Association (MAA) was founded on the same day during this exotic evening and 1stmeeting of the general council was held. Alumni from different parts of the world participated in this 1stGeneral council meeting and annual reunion. Alumni
shared experiences of their stay at this institute and how it affected their personal and professional lives.
The Alumni reunion was preceded by annual function in which Dr. Abdul Qadir (Chairman, MIHS), Dr. SamieQadir (Exec. Director, MIHS), Dr. M. YunusJadoon (Principal), Dr. Tausif Ahmed (Dean) and Dr. Nazim Farooq (HOD-DPT) distributed shields, medals and certificates to the students who excelled in academic and extra-curricular activities.
Students performed various skits which were extremely admired by both the faculty and guests. Dr. Abdul Qadir elaborated the importance of alumni and its function and presented shields to Dr. Tausif Ahmed and Dr. Muhammad YunusJadoon on organizing such a successful event.
The event concluded with Musical show by Faran Saeed and sumptuous dinner. -PR
