KARACHI- The first phase of application for admissions in Sindh’s public and private medical and dental colleges reached completion on Tuesday October 9 as the application submission process met its deadline.
This year, the admissions are being held under the centralised induction policy formulated by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), which requires a single merit list for all public and private medical and dental colleges of the province. The process of admissions is being handled by the Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) this year.
The Vice Chancellor JSMU Prof SM Tariq Rafi said that the university had received a large number of application forms which were made available at designated TCS branches all over Sindh, up until the deadline: Tuesday, October 9th.
In the next stage, the scrutiny of applications will take place at JSMU in Karachi, Liaquat University of Health and Medical Sciences in Hyderabad, and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University in Larkana.
The Entry Test is scheduled to be held under the National Testing Service, on October 28th. Prof. Tariq Rafi stressed that there would be a single Entry Test for both public and private medical and dental colleges in Sindh. Admissions to private medical colleges will begin after the process in government colleges has been completed, he added.
Prof Tariq Rafi explained that candidates from other provinces seeking admissions to private medical colleges in Sindh must submit applications with their scores from the Entry Tests held in their own provinces.
He remarked that the admission process has been reformulated and refined with the collaboration of all medical universities of the province. The upgraded policy promotes transparency and the rule of merit. He thanked all the participating institutions for their support and cooperation.
