KARACHI: A comprehensive workshop focusing on 'Crown and Bridge' was organized at Liaquat College of Medicine & Dentistry (LCMD) under the Chairperson of the CDEC Committee Prof Dr Uzma Zareef.
This event combined hands-on practice with enlightening lectures, proving to be a fruitful learning opportunity for dental enthusiasts.
The workshop commenced with a lecture delivered by Dr Kamran Parvez, Assistant Professor in the Department of Prosthodontics at LCMD. Dr Parvez's presentation covered a range of topics including the historical background, examination procedures, diagnosis, and treatment planning, occlusal considerations, diagnostic cast, wax-up techniques and shade selection.
Subsequently, Dr Shuja Adil Khan, also an Assistant Professor in the Department of Prosthodontics at LCMD, spoke on the principles of tooth preparation, charting, provisional restoration, metal and brisk try-ins, final glazing, and cementation.
The theoretical knowledge was translated into practice through a live demonstration led by Dr Anam Iqbal, with the support of Dr Kamran Parvez, Dr Shuja Adil Khan, Dr Anas Kamran, and Dr Tooba.
This hands-on session spanned two hours during which the participants were provided with models for practical crown and bridge preparation.
The event was skillfully moderated by Dr Afshan Faizan. The team of organizers, comprising Prof Dr Uzma Zareef, Dr Tauseef Ahmed, Dr Afshan Faizan, Dr Arifa Haque, Dr Ammatuz Zehra, and Dr Sarmad, ensured the smooth execution of the workshop.
At the end of the session JSMU and CDEC accredited certificates were awarded to the attendees, facilitators, and organizers by the Principal of the College of Dentistry, Prof Dr Navid Rashid Qureshi. Dr Kamran Parvez, Dr Shuja Adil Khan, and Dr Anam Iqbal.
