KARACHI: Expressing deep concern over the delay by the Sindh government in releasing the inquiry report regarding the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT), the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) has demanded the findings should be made public at the earliest.
The MDCAT, administered by Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) on September 10, witnessed participation by nearly 40,000 male and female candidates in Sindh, competing for 1,700 open merit seats. Regrettably, the test's integrity came under scrutiny due to reports of an alleged paper leak and misconduct.
Alarmingly, more than two weeks have passed since the examination, and the inquiry report remains undisclosed. This unwarranted delay raises questions about the report's authenticity and impartiality.
The PMA regards the release of the inquiry report as indispensable for upholding transparency and accountability. It has the potential to unveil any deficiencies or irregularities in the administration of the MDCAT. The timely availability of such reports can enable necessary improvements in the system and help avoid future complications, the association says.
It demands the immediate release of the MDCAT inquiry report as the continued delay could have grave consequences for the students who partook in the examination. The delay threatens to impede students' admissions to medical colleges and may protract the entire admission process, leaving students and their families in a state of perplexity, the PMA warns.
The association demands the Sindh government to promptly discloses the inquiry report following a comprehensive evaluation of the MDCAT. This measure can salvage the time and prospects of countless students eagerly awaiting their results, it adds.
