SHCC To Dictate Study On Infection Prevention And Control

KARACHI- Sindh Health Care Commission (SHCC) held a meeting with Sindh Infection Prevention & Control Task Force, where experts decided to conduct a study on infection prevention and control.

The meeting was attended by CEO SHCC Dr Minhaj Qidwai, Dr Rehana, Dr Aziz Ullah Dhillo, Dr Ayaz Mustafa, Dr Raza Kazmi and Dr Faiza Bhutto. It was decided in the meeting to devise a research study to define issues encountered by the team of SHCC during inspection caampains for infection prevention and control, and waste management.

The pilot study sites will be Larkana and Karachi, where the research will be initiated after approval.

CEO SHCC attended provincial consultative workshop on human rights indicators for province of Sindh. This workshop was arranged by Human Rights Department Government of Sindh with technical support of Ministry of Human Rights and UNDP.

The workshop was arranged to share points of view, data and experiences on health, education and social protection. CEO SHCC shared the current healthcare service delivery standards prevailing in Sindh and actions taken by SHCC for improvement in quality of healthcare and eradication of quackery in Sindh.

Similarly, CEO SHCC Dr Minhaj Qidwai also attended a seminar on infection prevention and injection safety at Ziauddin Hospital Karachi. He briefed on the role of SHCC in implementing injection safety practices in Healthcare establishments.

The Directorate of Clinical Governance & Training held a meeting of the Task force for reviewing laboratory standards. The meeting was attended by Dr Minhaj Qidwai, Dr Naila Tariq, Dr Masood Sheikh, Dr Shaheen, Dr Umar Daraz, Dr Amir,Dr  Raza Kazmi, Dr Ayaz Mustafa and Dr Faiza. In the meeting it was decided to work on provincial laboratory policy.

The Directorate of Anti-Quackery has sealed a total of 2102 Healthcare Establishments (HCEs) across Sindh province till date, while warnings have been issued to 548 HCEs for non-compliance.

Directorate of Complaint has received total 97 complaints out of which 56 complaints are disposed of, 35 complaints are under process while 6 are sub-judice so far.

The Complaint team also conducted inspection of Holy Family Hospital, Medical and High Independency Ward of Civil Hospital, in Karachi against the complaints received.

The Directorate of Licensing & Accreditation SHCC has received 65 new applications for registration in this week. Till date, the total number of applications for registration has reached 9071.

The certificates were issued to 660 HCEs in this week, bringing the total number of issued registration certificates to 7760 HCEs.
