Conjunctivitis guidelines issued to airports, airlines

KARACHI: Special guidelines have been issued to the airports and airlines staff for handling passengers with conjunctivitis (viral eye infection) after rise in such cases in Sindh.

In this connection, the provincial Border Health Services (BHS) Director Dr Murtaza Shah said in a statement, the airlines staff has been directed to ask the infected passengers to contact the doctors deputed at the airports by the health department.

He said the infected passengers would be examined by the health department’s doctors at the airports and advised on their condition.

No travel ban has been imposed on the infected passengers, however, he clarified.

The ’pink eye’ is caused by a virus or bacteria that is very contagious and spreads easily and quickly from one person to another person and could be avoided by taking precautions.
