KARACHI: The Bahria University Dental College (BUDC) Department of Operative Dentistry recently hosted a Table Clinic competition for final-year BDS students as part of their end-of-rotation activities in the Phantom Lab.
The event, overseen by Prof. Dr. Shama Asghar, Head of the Department of Operative Dentistry, along with Dr. Maliha Naveed, Senior Registrar in Paediatric Dentistry, and Dr. Syed Adeel Ahmed, Senior Registrar in Operative Dentistry, featured presentations on topics such as ICDAS classification, Endodontic Access, Veneer Preparation, Cracked Tooth Syndrome, and Post & Core systems.
External judges, including Dr. Afsheen Maqsood, Associate Professor of Oral Pathology, and Dr. Mansoor Dar, Assistant Professor of Dental Materials, evaluated the presentations based on content, creativity, and presentation skills. They also provided valuable feedback on prognosis and potential future research, encouraging students to strive for excellence.
The competition concluded with the Veneer Preparation team, consisting of Dua Yousafi and Amna Khalid, emerging as the winners.
Certificates were awarded to the participating students, and Prof. Dr. Shama Asghar delivered a message to all participants, describing the event as both successful and inspiring.
Such events provide a platform for undergraduate students to enhance their learning experience. By presenting cases or clinics to peers and seasoned clinicians, students gain confidence, improve their communication skills, and refine their ability to handle various clinical scenarios.
