Islamabad: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has ordered a private medical and dental college not to admit students for the session 2016-17 following noticing critical deficiency in faculty and other facilities.
PMDC president Prof Shabbir Lehri and a member of Executive Committee Dr Farrukh Eijaz conducted a surprise visit to the Yusra Medical and Dental College and examined the standard of education and facilities being provided to the students.
Expressing displeasure over the deficiencies, the PMDC chief asked the college administration not to admit students for the session 2016 -17. Prof Lehri on the occasion said that a number of complaints were received regarding the deficiencies in faculty, academic and financial issues of Yusra Medical & Dental College, Islamabad. “To address these complaints I decided to personally visit the college to have a look on these issues”.
The PMDC president also ordered an inquiry into financial, academic and administrative/managerial affairs of the college and once the probe is accomplished, the PMDC will conduct a comprehensive inspection of the college to see whether the deficiencies have been overcome.
He said that the council would continue to make surprise inspections to check the standards of all the recognised medical and dental colleges and those which are yet to be recognized by the PMDC.
These measures, he added, are aimed at ensuring quality education in the medical and dental colleges.
