This year, the 3-day premier global dental gathering brought together 155 world renowned speakers in dentistry, who offered new insights into the latest treatment advances in dentistry while also focusing on the scientific and technology breakthroughs that are revolutionizing the dental industry. In addition, the conference featured 16 hands-on workshops, 175 scientific sessions on a wide range of topics.
Commenting on the launch of the 23rd edition of AEEDC Dubai, Dr. Abdul Salam Al Madani, Executive Chairman of AEEDC Dubai, said, “Since its inception 22 years ago, AEEDC Dubai has grown at a rapid pace year after year and today it has clearly established itself as the leading global dental event and the most anticipated dental gathering for professionals, specialists and experts in the dental industry. AEEDC Dubai this year has witnessed a growth of 10%, and it is expected to attract over 50,000 visitors and participants in the next few days. In line with our efforts to promote high quality dental education in the region, our scientific committee has set a rich comprehensive agenda and I am highly confident that all attendees will find the key lectures and topics greatly useful in improving their understanding and knowledge about dentistry.”
On the first day, AEEDC Dubai 2019 conference featured key discussions on the sidelines of ‘Pediatric Forum: Advanced Pediatric Dental Care in the Everyday Practice’ such as, Dental Fear and Avoidance of Children and Adolescents and To Save or to Extract Primary Teeth in Severe ECC? Overcoming the Challenges among others. Additionally, the conference highlighted key topics in Orthodontics including: The Role of Orthodontist in the New Era, What Can Define Today as Hybrid Treatment and Dental Hygiene – Sleep Disorders to name a few. Moreover, experts offered their unique insights on various topics in ‘Oral Implantology, Periodontology’ such as When to Save Or Extract Teeth? and Periimplantitis Prevention by Home Oral Care Means.
For the first time, AEEDC Dubai witnessed the launch of ‘AEEDC Dubai Stars 2019’ which included a series of competitions as well as many fun and entertainment activities to foster a competitive spirit among celebrity dentists, influencers, experts and industry professionals.
The second day, February 6th, 2019, witnessed the launch of the 16th Global Scientific Dental Alliance Meeting (GSDA), with the participation of 157-member representatives coming from all corners of the globe. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Abdul Salam Al Madani, Executive Chairman of GSDA and AEEDC Dubai and, Dr. Nasser Al Malik, Chairman, Scientific Committee of AEEDC Dubai, Dr. Mohammad Abedin, Scientific Vice-Chairman of AEEDC Dubai, Eng. Anas Al Madani, Vice Chairman and Group CEO of INDEX Holding, and a number of leading dignitaries, heads of dental associations, world renowned dentists and deans of dental colleges and universities from the UAE and abroad.

AEEDC Dubai featured a key signing ceremony ‘Cooperation Agreement’ between AEEDC Dubai and FDI World Dental Federation in the presence of Dr. Abdul Salam Al Madani, Executive Chairman, GSDA and AEEDC Dubai and Dr. Kathryn Kell, President of FDI World Dental Federation. The cooperation agreement aims to further enhance strategic partnerships between AEEDC Dubai and FDI World Dental Federation, raise awareness about the latest advances in dentistry, improve the standards of dental education as well as support oral health promotion activities in the UAE and the wider world.
While giving a few figures related to the impact of oral diseases on public health Dr. Kell added, “We live in a world where the burden of oral disease remains significant and widespread. Most people will be affected by preventable oral diseases, including dental caries and gingivitis, in their lifetime. We know for a fact that, oral diseases affect at least 3.58 billion people worldwide, with caries of the permanent teeth being the most prevalent of all conditions assessed. Globally, it is estimated that 2.4 billion people suffer from caries of permanent teeth and 486 million children suffer from caries of primary teeth. The global burden of oral disease constitutes a major public health challenge and in order to overcome such a challenging paradigm shift, a unified effort from all stakeholders, including regional entities like AEEDC Dubai is paramount.”
The AEEDC Student competition 2019 concluded on the second day of AEEDC Dubai, which enabled students of different universities and colleges to share their knowledge in various fields of dentistry and compete to win the coveted “AEEDC Knowledge Champion 2019”. Many students participated this year from University of Sharjah, RAK College of Dental Sciences, Qassim University, Imam Abdulrahman AlFaisal University, College of Dentistry, King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, King Khalid University, Princess Nourah Bint Abdul Rahman University and Ain Shams University, Faculty of Dentistry, AlFarabi Colleges in Riyadh, King Abdul Aziz University, Faculty of Dentistry, Saratov State Medical University, Ibn Sina National College for Medical Sciences, Prince Sattam Bin Abdulaziz University, Universite Saint-Joseph de Beyrouth, The British University in Egypt and the Lebanese University Faculty of Dentistry and Jazan University.
Key Dental Technologies on display at AEEDC Dubai Exhibition 2019:
As the future of dentistry is digital, AEEDC Dubai 2019 showcased cutting-edge digital solutions for treatment planning, impression scanning and digital manufacturing which are fundamentally changing the dental practices around the world. This year, the leading technology brands in dentistry featured the launch of newly advanced 3D Printers, the latest dental scanners and milling machines which are not only improving efficiency, saving time and ensuring cost savings but also offering better functionality and clinical acceptance, with fewer errors and adjustments.

This year, AEEDC Dubai exhibition witnessed a huge participation from countries like Germany, Italy, South Korea and China, who represent the biggest country pavilions exhibiting this year.
The 23rd edition of UAE International Dental Conference and Arab Dental Exhibition successfully concluded on its third day, February 7th, 2019.

AEEDC Dubai Night
Meanwhile, in line with the AEEDC Dubai’s goal to raise the bar of excellence in dentistry in the region and inspire the regional and global dental fraternity to reach new milestones, AEEDC Dubai 2019 featured ‘AEEDC Dubai Night’ last evening at Grand Hyatt Hotel in Dubai in order to recognize the unique contributions of the leading dentistry figures in the region. The recognition also reflects the achievements of dental specialists and professionals who laid the groundwork for a robust and stable oral and dental healthcare industry in the region.
During the ceremony, AEEDC Dubai announced the AEEDC Dubai Personality of the Year Award presented to Major General Dr. Raafat Riad, Chief of the Egyptian Armed Forces Oral and Dental Health Care Services, for his outstanding contributions in the field of Oral Health.
