GENEVA: The FDI World Dental Federation (FDI) will host a webinar to discuss the role of innovation and technology in shaping the future of oral health in the spirit of the 2022 WOHD campaign, Be Proud of Your Mouth for Your Happiness and Well-Being, which advocates a multisectoral response to addressing the burden of oral disease.

Every year on March 20, World Oral Health Day (WOHD) is observed worldwide. Prof. Paulo Melo, WOHD Task Team Chair, says, "On March 20 every year, we ask the world to unite to help reduce the global burden of oral diseases, which affect individuals, health systems and economies everywhere. Good oral health is essential to general health, well-being and quality of life. Industry partners have a key role in providing the necessary products, technologies and equipment to facilitate prevention, early detection and treatment of oral diseases".

Unilever, Dentsply-Sirona, and Align Technology will share their perspectives on the strategies, technologies, and tools shaping the future of oral health by assisting dental professionals in the prevention, early detection, and treatment of oral diseases that people can be proud of their smiles.

Unilever will promote the benefits of Teledentistry and its new "Don't Wait Until It's Too Late #TalkToADentist" campaign. The campaign is built on the notion that everyone should be able to get competent dental care that is both convenient and inexpensive.

Align Technology will demonstrate how digital dental technologies can assist clinicians in establishing preventive care as part of a long-term oral health journey by educating patients, improving their treatment experience, and assisting clinicians in establishing preventive care as part of a long-term oral health journey.

Dentsply-Sirona will describe how their latest digital innovations provide patient-specific solutions with end-to-end digital workflows powered by artificial intelligence, allowing dental practitioners to focus on what matters most: treating patients and generating healthy smiles.

The online event will begin at 2 p.m. Central Europe Time or 8 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on March 17, 2022.

Join this webinar to learn how disruptive technologies may have a significant impact on patients' oral health knowledge and behaviour in the future and how dentists and dental teams will be able to provide safer and more effective interventions at both the individual and population levels.
