DN Report The Pakistan Dental Association - Karachi held its 3rd Continuing Education Symposium at the Liaquat Medical and Dental College at Dar us Sehat Hospital, Karachi, on Thursday, 25th April, 2013. Enthusiastic participation from the leading Dental professionals and a large number of Dentistry students made this event a roaring success. Among the learned speakers of this insightful event were; Assistant Professor of Prosthodontics at Dow International Dental College - Dr. Zia Ullah, who enlightened the participants with the "Fundamentals of Tooth Preparation". One of the most respected senior Dental Surgeons - Dr. Aizaz Khan gave the opening remarks and highlighted the efforts and achievements of the Pakistan Dental Association-Karachi, in organizing programs for Continued Dental Education throughout the city. Dr. Khan thanked the participants of the Symposium, the dental community and the pharmaceutical sector for the overwhelming response and support towards enriching the professional training endeavors of the PDA. The head of Orthodontics Department at Liaquat Medical and Dental College - Dr. Abdullah Kamran made a comprehensive presentation on the topic; "When and Who should do Orthodontics Treatment". Dr. Irfan Qureshi - A faculty member at Altamash Institute of Dentistry, Diplomate of Baqai Dental College, Fellow of ICOI and an M.Sc from Kings College, London presented a detailed and interesting overview on the topic of "Narrow Diameter Implants - When, Where and How", featuring a rationale for Dental Implants. Towards the end of the Symposium, the speakers and experts who graced the event, were presented with commemorative shields, and this session was followed by lunch. Among the prominent participants and proactive organizers of this Symposium were; Dr. Zubair Abbasi - the Head of Dental Section at Karachi Medical & Dental College, Dr. Aqeel Shaikh - General Secretary of Pakistan Dental Association Karachi, Dr. Aizaz Khan, Dr. Feroz Jahahngir and Dr. Ahmed Zaidi of 3M Pakistan. The symposium was organized in collaboration with the leading Pharmaceutical enterprise - Pfizer. Numerous participating students from various dental colleges, termed this event as a great learning opportunity, where they were able to share the experience and wisdom of leading experts, with great accomplishments in the different fields of Dental surgery and specializations.
