KARACHI: Liaquat College of Medicine and Dentistry (LCMD) recently celebrated its Annual Research Day, to promote a robust culture of research and innovation among students, featuring 83 poster presentations spanning complete studies, review articles, and research synopses.
The event, supported by Principal Prof. Dr. Navid Rashid Qureshi and the Student Scientific Committee, led by Dr. Amna Rehman, was attended by some 300 students from all academic years.
Top-three presenters received cash prizes of Rs40,000, Rs30,000, and Rs20,000, respectively.
Mr. Zafar Masud, Chairman of the Pakistan Banks’ Association and President & CEO of the Bank of Punjab was the chief guest, while prominent academic and research figures, including Prof. Dr. Farhat Jaffri, Head of Community Health Sciences at KMDC; Prof. Dr. Farida Islam, Dean of Medicine at the University of Karachi; and Prof. Dr. Aqeel Shaikh, Former vice-principal of KMDC were also present.
An expert panel comprising 18 senior jury members, including Prof. Dr. Moin Ansari (Psychiatry, LUHMS) and Prof. Dr. Hassan Shahid (Research Director, Isra Dental College), evaluated the research presentations, offering insightful feedback.
LCMD faculty also contributed to the judging process, ensuring a thorough assessment of each project.
The event attracted senior dentists and faculty members from various educational institutions across Karachi. Students, guided by faculty supervisors, showcased research that adhered to rigorous scientific criteria.
