KARACHI: The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) of Baqai Medical University (BMU) recently held an awareness workshop titled 'Self-Assessment of the Academic Programs' for all Pakistan's Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) & universities. The workshop has been based on Higher Education Commission's (HEC's) prescribed criteria and standards.
Air commodore (Retd) Mr Muhammad Ismail, Director QEC, National University Of Medical Sciences (NUMS), facilitated this session. QEC directors from other regional universities graced the event with their presence.
The workshop was conducted in a hybrid environment. There were more than 140 online participants and faculty members of BMU who attended in person.
Self-assessment has been an essential tool for internalising academic quality assurance. So, the workshop aimed at improving student learning and understand HEC's eight criteria, 31 standards and ten proforma. The workshop's purpose was also to learn the procedure to conduct an assessment and prepare a Self Assessment Report (SAR). It also aimed at knowing the responsibilities of the Program Team (PT) and Academic Team (AT).
The event went successful and was highly appreciated by other HEIs and universities of Pakistan.
