ISLAMABAD: The petition has recently been filed against the 2021 examination regulation introduced by Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) at Islamabad High Court (IHC).
Waqas Malik, Former Secretary, IHC Bar Association, had filed the petition as per the wishes of late Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, who died on Oct 10. He said he had the signature of Dr AQ Khan on a Power Of Attorney and the plea, which was supposed to be filed on Oct 11.
The petition reads that the batons charging against the protesting young doctors had worsened Pakistan's image on the global level. Moreover, the decision of disintegrating the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) and establishing PMC has created major flaws within the system. The petition also mentioned the change of the examination system and the increase in its fee to Rs. 6000 per candidate.
The lawyer said that Dr AQ Khan was quite disturbed over the discriminatory attitude towards the young doctors, and he had asked him to file a petition on his account.
Malik further said that he wanted to proceed with the case himself after Dr Khan's demise.
The respondents of the petition are PMC, the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination and others.
