Avastin injection declared safe and standardized

LAHORE: Avastin injection has been officially declared as safe, standardized, and sterile in the province of Punjab.

Detailed reports from reputable drug testing laboratories have confirmed the safety and quality of Avastin injection. This comprehensive testing was conducted by the Central Drug Lab (CDL) in Karachi and the Drug Testing Lab (DTL) in Lahore.

The Punjab government has received the reports from both CDL and DTL, affirming the quality and sterility of Avastin injection. Notably, the DTL report is based on the examination of four Avastin samples, all sourced from authorized distributors, which were submitted to DTL Lahore on September 24.

In addition to these samples, 110 Avastin injections were recovered from the AGC Lahore office. Two of these samples were sent to CDL Karachi for analysis, and the Federal Drug Inspector Karachi collected the samples from Roche Pharma's head office in Karachi. This initiated a comprehensive sterility and quality assessment conducted at CDL and DTL.

The laboratories conducted a battery of tests, including sterility testing, component analysis, and formulation evaluations, to ensure the safety of Avastin injections. The meticulous examination was carried out to confirm the absence of any contamination in Avastin injections.

The Punjab government remains steadfast in its commitment to upholding the highest standards of safety and quality in healthcare. The rigorous testing and subsequent declaration of Avastin injection as standardized, safe, and sterile reaffirm the government's dedication to safeguarding public health. This announcement brings much-needed reassurance to the community regarding the safety of this vital medication.
