KARACHI: Bahria University Health Sciences Campus (Karachi) recently organized the much-awaited Athletic-On 2024 event at its campus, enthusiastically attended by students from diverse disciplines showing a spirit of sportsmanship and unity.
The week-long event kicked off with a vibrant opening ceremony on day one, that witnessed Tug of War and arm wrestling contests, promoting teamwork among the participants.
The day two started with fast-paced Futsal matches, followed by races, Tug of War for girls, and Chess competition in the afternoon. The day concluded with throw ball and bolleyball matches, in a competitive yet friendly atmosphere.
Day three featured racket and ball games, table tennis and cricket matches for both genders, besides the basketball contests in the late afternoon.
Similarly, on day four commenced with more basketball matches and badminton games, showcasing the agility and skill of the students. The day concluded with the a prize distribution ceremony.
As per the results, the girls' BDS team bagged gold medal in badminton and also emerged as champions in basketball. BDS boys team excelled in Futsal, claiming the top spot, while the boys' volleyball team remained runner-up.
BDS earned the Championship Trophy in the girls' basketball and boys' Futsal for their overall sportsmanship, with the girls’ badminton team receiving a special trophy.
The 4th-year MBBS students also clinched the Championship Trophy in a separate category.
On the final day of the event, the sports field transformed into a venue for a cultural extravaganza, featuring Qawali performances.
BUHSC (K) Director General, Vice Admiral (r) Ather Mukhtar HI (M), and Dean of Health Sciences BUHS, Maj Gen (r) Prof Dr. Shehla M. Baqai HI (M), along with other dignitaries, attended the event, encouraging students to exhibit their talents.
Athletic-On 2024 not only displayed physical prowess of the students, but also served as a platform for cultural expression, creating a memorable experience for all participants.
