Black Day Observed in Sindh

KARACHI: The Young Doctors Association (YDA) Sindh, Sindh Doctors Ittihad (SDI), and the paramedics' organizations recently observed black day across the Sindh province. The day was observed in order to show solidarity against torture on doctors and the attack on the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) by lawyers in Lahore. The protesters were led by Dr Muhammad Ali Thalu, Dr Shabir Memon, Dr Kamal Ansari, Dr Abdullah, Dr Sunder Lal, Dr Zoya Iqbal, and others.

Addressing the protesters, Chairman, YDA Sindh, Dr Omer Sultan, said that the PTI (Pakistan Tehreek E Insaf) run Punjab government failed to protect doctors even in the premises of the hospital. He said that such incidents were not acceptable at any cost. He demanded security for doctors, nurses, and paramedics. He further urged to immediately arrest the goons involved in the hospital attack.  He demanded the filing of this case in the military court and the resignation of the Health Minister of Punjab.

All the YDA Karachi division units including the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK), National Institute of Child Health (NICH), Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), Sindh Government Lyari General Hospital, and others staged protest and observed black day against the attack on PIC Lahore. The YDA units in Hyderabad, Larkana, Sehwan, Shahdadpur, Nawabshah, and Sukkar also staged a protest and observed black day against the attack.

The Sindh Doctors Ittihad staged a protest at the Sindh Government Lyari General Hospital and other health facilities against the rebellious attitude of the lawyers inside the premises of the Punjab Institute of Cardiology.
