KARACHI: Dental News Pakistan recently launched the 'Dental News (DN) Awards 2021' for the first time in Pakistan. These virtual awards were sponsored by Universal Dental (Pvt) Ltd – Pakistan.
Dental News believes that challenges are essential for creating influencers, innovators and scientists. They are the key to saving the world, and we must do all we can to believe in them by preparing, appreciating, awarding and celebrating them.
Dental News Awards were entirely the people choice awards and featured two categories, i.e., DN personality of the year 2021 and DN Insta Influencer of the year 2021. The Dental News social media managing team spared no effort to expand access to voting specifically on social media pages. A surprisingly high percentage of people participated by casting their votes.
DN Personality of the Year 2021:
The nominees for this category were Dr Khalid Almas, Dr Hasan Bashir, Dr Talha Siddiqui & Dr Ain-ul-Haq and Dr Ambreena Qureshi. Dr Hasan Bashir got the most votes and was pronounced the DN Personality of the Year 2021.
Dr Hasan Bashir is an extraordinary dental professional who has made his mark. He is Chairman of Pakistan Dental Association (PDA) Welfare Complex Gujranwala and former president of PDA Gujranawala from 2017.
Dr Hasan completed his BDS from de Montmorency College of Dentistry, Lahore, in 1997. He has also been awarded the fellowship of the International College of Dentists and Academy of Dentaire International. He is also an active member of the American Dental Association (ADA). Dr Hasan has been a renowned figure among the dental community for his exceptional efforts and hard work in the uplifting of dentistry in Pakistan during times of COVID.
DN Insta Influencer of the Year 2021:
The nominees in this category were Dr Abeer/Dr Rida/ Dr Wardah/ Dr Warisha, Dr Ayesha Ilyas, Dr Saman Hayat, Dr Aneeqa Aslam.
Dr Aneeqa Aslam bagged the most votes and became the DN Insta Influencer of the Year 2021.
Dr Aneeqa Aslam is a promising young founder of the Pakistan Association of Dental Students (PADS). She has done her Bachelors of Dental Surgery (BDS) from CMH Lahore Medical and Dental College, Lahore, Pakistan, in 2020.
PADS envisioned to uplift the medical and dental education standards in Pakistan to establish a global presence. Within a year, Aneeqa's well-versed attitude, compassionate leadership and critical reasoning successfully made Pakistan a member of the International Association of Dental Students (IADS) in 2020. She was also selected as Regional Ambassador of Asia-Pacific Elect. Votes of all member countries elected her across the globe with a lead of 10 votes.
