Lahore: Schoolchildren were provided valuable information about oral health and hygiene at a seminar recently organised at the Subhan Islamia Elementary School, Shorkot.
Dr Arooj ul Hassan, Associate Professor and Head of Department of the Community & Preventive Dentistry at the University College of Medicine and Dentistry (UCMD), The University of Lahore, was the guest speaker at the seminar attended by more than 200 students and teachers.
In her address, Dr Arooj explained the importance of oral hygiene and prevention of dental problems, including tooth decay, gum disease and bad breath, demonstrating brushing techniques.
During the interactive session, the students also asked questions about oral health-related issues.
The schoolchildren were also given goody bags containing toothbrushes and toothpastes, in collaboration with Colgate, Palmolive.
The seminar was part of a larger initiative at national level by the Community and Preventive Dentistry Department, University College of Medicine and Dentistry , aimed to improve oral health among the schoolchildren in peripheral areas and educate the local community about the benefits of better oral hygiene practices and preventive care.
School Principal Ms Razia Sultana lauded the initiative and science teacher Mr Khalid Gujjar thanked Dr Arooj for sharing valuable information with the students.
