LAHORE: Fatima Jinnah Dental College (FJDC) held its 18th White Coat ceremony, a tradition marking the beginning of the academic journey of its incoming Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) students 32nd batch, accompanied by their families and esteemed faculty members.
The ceremony commenced with a graceful procession, accompanied by the national anthem. Dr Sabiha Mirza, Vice Principal and Head of Pathology, delivered a welcome address, emphasizing virtues such as discipline, punctuality, and academic excellence, urging parents to actively engage in their children's educational journey.
Dr Hussain Askary, CEO of FJDC, highlighted the college's illustrious history, innovative teaching methodologies, and diverse extracurricular activities. Highlighting recent initiatives such as the introduction of AI courses and advanced Aesthetic Medicine programs, he endorsed FJDC's commitment to pioneering advancements in dental education, encouraging students to pursue their passions.
Ms. Khushbakht Shujaat (TI) was the chief guest, while other guests included former Senator & ex-member of the National Assembly, and Prof. Dr. Syed Yawar Ali Abidi, Dean of SIOHS. Heads of departments bestowed white coats upon the first-year BDS students, symbolizing their official induction into the dental profession.
The students took the professional oath, pledging to uphold the highest standards of dental care and service. Academic and extracurricular achievements were celebrated, with special recognition accorded to the team behind the AI course for their efforts in integrating cutting-edge technology into FJDC's curriculum.
Ms Shujaat in her address underscored the significance of empathy and contentment in the noble profession of dentistry. The ceremony concluded with remarks from Dr. Babur Ashraf, Vice Principal and Head of the Orthodontic Department.
On the occasion, Dr. Baqar Askary, Chairman & Head of Institution of FJDC, was awarded a lifetime achievement award, honoring his profound contributions to the field of medicine and his vision for global health and peace.
