ISLAMABAD: Dr. Khursheed Ahmed, President of the Pakistan Dental Association (PDA), has announced significant reforms aimed at fostering inclusivity and transparency within the association.
Acknowledging the need for structured governance, Dr. Khursheed has pledged to form a Constitution Committee tasked with reviewing and proposing amendments to the PDA constitution. This initiative is expected to provide a robust framework for the association’s operations, ensuring fairness, transparency, and a clearer path for future reforms.
Additionally, the PDA President has revealed plans to establish an Advisory Board, which will serve as a consultative body to guide the association on strategic decisions. This step is being lauded as a means to involve a broader spectrum of voices, including senior dental professionals, in shaping the future of the PDA.
These decisions are set to be finalized early next week, with announcements expected by Monday or Tuesday.
In the press release issued by the PDA, Dr. Khursheed has also called for applications from eligible dental professionals for the position of National Liaison Officer (NLO) at the World Dental Federation (FDI). Interested candidates are invited to submit their CVs and credentials directly to the President at president@pda.org.pk.
These decisions come in the wake of pointed criticism regarding the PDA’s initial approach to appointments, which some described as lacking inclusivity and transparency. While the swift naming of provincial PDA presidents was viewed by some as unilateral, Dr. Khursheed’s latest measures signal a willingness to adapt and embrace constructive feedback.
