KARACHI: The global cancer community commemorates World Cancer Day on February 4th every year. This day aims to prevent millions of death each year by raising awareness and education about cancer. In this regard Department of Community Dentistry Baqai Dental College arranged a series of lectures at its Primary Health Care Centers based on the agenda that every single one of us has the ability to make a difference and together we can make a real progress in reducing the global impact of the cancer.
Therefore, an awareness session, dental screening camp and awareness walk was held at Baqai Medical Complex Khushal Nagar Gharo, Baqai Medical Complex Khuda ki Basti, Salimullah Fehmi Primary Memorial School Unit 1 , FWC Lyari and at Fehmi Health care center recently.
At Salimullah Fehmi Primary Memorial School this event initiated with an awareness session conducted by Prof Dr Asghar Ali Shigri, for the school children, which focused on oral cancer, its risk factors, dietary modification for its prevention. This was followed by a demonstration of proper brushing techniques by the House officers. All the faculty members Dr Samreen Mazhar, Dr Mehwish Bano and Dr Wajiha Anzar participated enthusiastically in this session.
