ISLAMABAD: The federal government has allocated Rs27,000 million for 27 ongoing and 14 new schemes under the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations, and Coordination in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the fiscal year 2024-25.
Out of the total allocation, Rs7,131.330 million has been earmarked for ongoing schemes, while Rs19,868.670 million for new projects.
Significant allocations include Rs5,000 million for the Prime Minister's National Programme for the Elimination of Hepatitis C Infection and Rs2,000 million for the Prime Minister's National Programme for the Prevention of Diabetes.
Additionally, Rs3,000 million has been allocated for the establishment of stroke intervention and expansion of critical care facilities at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), and Rs2,050 million for the procurement of equipment for the establishment of a cancer hospital in Islamabad.
The budget also includes Rs1,500 million for strengthening and upgrading cardiology and other facilities at the Federal Government Polyclinic (FGPC) in Islamabad, and Rs550 million for Phase-II of the Sehat Sahulat Programme (SSP).
Moreover, Rs800 million has been set aside for the establishment of a 200-bed accident and emergency facility at PIMS (PC-II), and Rs307 million for the purchase of new electro-medical equipment to replace obsolete machines and enhance medical care.
An amount of Rs1,060.093 million has been allocated for the establishment of a cancer hospital in Islamabad, and Rs609.649 million for the upgrade of the Radiology Department at Shaikh Zayed Hospital in Lahore.
