KARACHI – The Department of Periodontology/Oral Medicine at Bahria University Medical and Dental College (BUMDC) organized a poster competition among students of third year BDS. The competition was supervised by Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed HOD Periodontology Department and Dr.Wahab Kadri HOD Oral Medicine Department. The event was organized by Dr. Natasha Zaidi, Dr. Umair Aslam, and Dr. Saima Mazhar from the Periodontology Department. Dr. Arsalan Ahmed, Dr. Kiran Fatima and Dr. Moona Mumtaz were the organizers from the Oral Medicine Department.
The poster topics were selected from the course outline to enhance knowledge and dialogue among the students. The competition was judged by Dr. Shama Asghar HOD Operative Dentistry, Dr. Tabbasum Ahsan HOD Orthodontics and Dr. Daud Mirza HOD Oral Pathology BUMDC. The group who won from the Periodontology Department presented the poster on “Periodontal Pockets”, and comprised of students Sana Hameed, Zahra Hassan, Hania Idrees and Sarah Jamil.
The group securing the first position from the Oral Medicine Department had presented a poster on “The Effects of Radiation on Oral Cavity”. Group members included Ahmer Shakeel, Perha Shaik, Tuba and Madiha. Certificates were distributed among all the students who participated.
All the HOD’S, Dental faculty and House Officers attended the event. Principal Dental College Dr. Kulsoom Fatima Rizvi commended all the participants and encouraged them to perform even better to represent BUMDC at every academic and extra-curricular forum.
