KARACHI: The Section of Dentistry, Agha Khan University Hospital, Karachi, recently organised a workshop on Advances in Rotary Endodontics in collaboration with the Pakistan Association of Operative Dentistry and Endodontics (PAODE).
The undergraduate dental students, house officers, postgraduate residents and general dental practitioners from different institutions attended the workshop.
Renowned clinicians from different academic institutions, including Dr Zahid Iqbal, Dr Arshad Hasan, Dr Javeria Ali Khan, Dr Haroon Ashraf, Dr Farah Saeed, Dr Farah Naz and Dr Kamil Zafar, attended the workshop as guest speakers.
The workshop aimed to familiarise the participants with recent technological advancements in rotary file systems and their indications in various clinical situations.
Dr Robia Ghafoor, Assistant Professor, AKUH, delivered a comprehensive lecture regarding the evolution and development of nickel-titanium rotary systems until recent advancements.
Following this, a hands-on workshop session was facilitated by Dr Fahad Umer. Each participant was allowed to practice on resin blocks and extracted teeth under the supervision of workshop facilitators.
As the collaborating partner in this workshop, Dr Farhan Raza Khan, General Secretary, PAODE, introduced the participants to the objectives of PAODE and the efforts done to the uplifting of Endodontics in Pakistan.
In the end, Dr Zahid Iqbal, President of PAODE, presented certificates to the guests and participants.
Dentsply sponsored the workshop for the materials. It was successfully managed by a team of residents, including Dr Zainab Haji, Dr Saqib Habib and Dr Aysha Arif leading the workshop preparations.
