KARACHI: HITEC-IMS Dental College, in collaboration with the Asia Pacific Dental Students Association – Pakistan (APDSA-Pakistan), conducted a one-day workshop titled “Radiant Smiles: Workshop on Teeth Whitening” at its Operative Dentistry Department.
Held at the HITEC Dental Hospital, the event aimed to enhance the skills and knowledge of dental professionals in advanced teeth whitening techniques.
The workshop was led by a panel of facilitators, including Prof. Dr. Beenish Qureshi, Head of the Department of Operative Dentistry; Dr. Sharaz Ahmad, Assistant Professor of Operative Dentistry; and Dr. Amna Riaz, Head of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry.
The event was coordinated by Dr. Maarij Saeed, Director of Continuing Education, and Dr. Ushna Naeem, Liaison Officer at HITEC-IMS.
The day commenced with an informative lecture by Prof. Dr. Beenish Qureshi, who provided a comprehensive overview of various teeth whitening procedures, followed by a detailed demonstration of both vital and non-vital bleaching techniques, as well as at-home whitening methods, led by Dr. Sharaz Ahmad and Dr. Amna Riaz.
The participants engaged in hands-on practice sessions, applying vital bleaching techniques on volunteer patients with fluorosis and severe staining. The facilitators provided expert guidance throughout these practical exercises.
At the workshop’s conclusion, the HITEC-IMS Dental College principal presented shields and certificates to the facilitators and participants. In his closing remarks, he emphasized the growing importance of teeth whitening in modern dentistry and praised the Operative Dentistry Department for its successful organization of the event.
Providing feedback, the participants appreciated the high quality of instruction and practical experience offered by the workshop.
