LAHORE - The 4th SADAF and 24th National Dental Conference is being held in the historic city of Lahore on 5-7 April at the state-of-the-art Expo center, Johar Town. The last SADAF was held in 1995 at Dhaka Bangladesh, so this congress will mark the revival of SADAF as well. The congress has been organized by the Pakistan Dental Association Center.
The highlight of the event is the renowned speakers from all over the world who will present their state -of-the-art lecturers and cases to the participants. The congress has an extensive pre- and post-scientific workshops with poster and table clinic competitions as well. The trade which is the backbone of any congress will be there with full force and is mostly being handled by the Dental Trade and Manufacturers Association themselves.
The city of gardens welcomes the delegates to this congress which will also mark the revival of South Asian Dental Association and Federation. Incidentally, Dr Tariq Zaman when he was president of Pakistan Dental
Association Centre in 1990 played an instrumental role in forming SADAF. He was the first president of SADAF with Dr Mrs. I Ratnayakay as Vice President and a delegate from India was elected the General Secretary.
The local organizing committee is to be headed by Prof Prof Dr Waheed ul Hamid as the chairman and Dr. Ghafeer Ahmad Malik and Dr Aslam Sheikh as vice chairmen of the congress. Dr Arham Chohan is the secretary of the congress and Prof Mughees Baig is the chairman of scientific committee. Registration committee is headed by Dr Wasif Ali Khan and trade is being looked after by Sr.Asif Ali Shah and Rana Zafar Iqbal.
The reception committee to welcome the delegates is to be headed by Dr Amjad as chairman and Dr Khurram Atatullah as his deputy while publication committee is being spearheaded by Prof Dr Qasim Saeed; accommodation by Dr Adrees and Dr Asif Arain is the chairman of SAARC coordination committee.
The accommodation arrangements so far are limited but the chairman of the organizing committee is looking forward to welcome the delegates from all over Pakistan and has promised to accommodate then all. The information is available on the website as well.
The early bird registration ends on March 15th and dentists and PGs will pay Rs 3500 with house officers and students Rs 2500 before the early bird expires.
The organizers have made extensive arrangements to make this conference a memorable one and have arranged colourful day excursions and evening programmes. An elaborate sightseeing program has been arranged including visits to the historic Rohtas Fort, Flag - Lowering Ceremony at Wahga Border, a visit to the Walled City, Badshahi mosque, Jehangir's tomb, Shalimar garden and museum, to name a few.
