MIRPURKHAS: The Department of Student Affairs at Bhitai Dental and Medical College in Mirpurkhas, in collaboration with the Bhitai Welfare Hospital, organised an informative session to create awareness about breast cancer among female BDS, students, faculty members and staff.     

The session was held under the guidance of Dr Muhammad Mushtaq Khan, Medical Superintendent, and Deputy Managing Director, along with Dr Muhammad Anique, who oversees the Student Affairs Department.

Dr Bisma Khizer and Dr Shanza, who are part of the Student Affairs Department, also played key roles in organizing and conducting the highly informative event.

The session aimed to raise awareness among female students studying in the 1st to 4th year of the BDS programme, as well as female faculty members and staff, regarding breast cancer risk factors, self-examination, clinical examination, and screening for the disease that may prove fatal if not diagnosed and treated at an early stage.

Dr Sabiha Umer Mangrio, a consultant gynecologist, led the awareness session, during which many of the students made creative posters and postcards to disseminate and promote breast cancer awareness.

Dr Romesa Khero, Assistant Director of the Medical Education Department, served as the host for the session.

The event concluded with Principal Dr Permanand and Vice Principal Dr Ali Maqbool, accompanied by the Student Affairs Department team, presenting Ajrak and certificates as mementos to the speaker.

They were joined by Prof Dr Atif Mehmood, Advisor to the Managing Director, Dr Naveed Ahsan, Director of Research and Development, and Dr Areeba Jalbani, a senior faculty member, who also awarded certificates to the organizers and all the students who contributed to the session by making posters to create awareness about breast cancer in the community.
