MIRPUR KHAS: The Department of Oral Pathology, Bhitai Dental and Medical College (BDMCH), Mirpurkhas, recently conducted a series of sessions where students learn histopathological slides in a conventional tone, i.e., traditional microscope-based learning.

The leading teachers for these sessions were Dr Arhama Surwaich,  Assistant Professor & Head of Oral Pathology Department, BDMCH and Dr Shahzaman Memon, Assistant Professor, Oral Pathology Department, BDMCH.

These microscopic sessions have been essential for medical students in multiple ways. They have helped students understand the arrangement of cells and tissues in a healthy organ system and tissues removed from suspicious lumps and bumps. They have also helped to identify the nature of the abnormality and provide a diagnostic service for lesions.

The integration of traditional and e-learning methods (virtual microscopy) has improved dental students' learning outcomes in histopathology. Moreover, studying histological slides has provided students with the skills to thrive later in life and strengthen the education system.
