KARACHI: Bilquis Bano Edhi, the wife of renowned and esteemed humanitarian and philanthropist late Abdul Sattar Edhi, recently passed away at a private hospital in Karachi. She was 74 years old.
Bilquis Edhi and Abdul Sattar Edhi collaborated to establish the Abdul Sattar Edhi Foundation, a welfare organisation that received international acclaim for its humanitarian activities in various fields.
After her husband died in July 2016, Bilquis continued the foundation's massive work with her son Faisal Edhi, who confirmed her death to the public.
Faisal said his mum was admitted to the hospital earlier this week after her blood pressure dropped unexpectedly. She suffered complications in hospital as she had congestive heart failure and had already undergone a bypass procedure twice.
She was buried in Karachi's Mewa Shah graveyard.
