KARACHI- The Convocation ceremony of the Baqai Medical University (BMU) was held recently, at the Nizam Stadium (BMU). The theme of the event was; ‘Graduation is a process that goes on until the last day of your life. If you can grasp that, you'll make a difference.’
This is the most awaited event of the every year for the students, especially the graduated batches. This year's Convocation Ceremony hosted 1,038 graduating students along with their proud families.
Renowned Nuclear Scientist - Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honor. Prof. Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan congratulated all graduates and motivated them by sharing his life experiences. His message to all the students present at the ceremony was: “Your real challenge begins now as you utilize the skills that you have acquired to make this world a better, more humane and more tolerant place”.
Apart from the students and their families, numerous dignitaries and senior faculty members were also present at the convocation ceremony, including; Dr. Baqai, Mrs. Baqai, Sardar Yaseen Malik, Prof. Dr. Moinuddin, Prof. Dr. Brig Intisar, Prof. Dr. Fazal Hussain, and many more.
Dr. Talha M. Sidduiqui – Vice Principal of Baqai Dental College highlighted the achievements of Baqai Dental College over the past 25 years and appreciated the grandeur of this celebration. The Silver Jubilee celebrations will be enriched with various workshops and symposiums conducted for the students to gain practical and real case scenarios. He expressed his pleasure to see Baqai Medical University developing rapidly as one of the best medical institutions in the country, providing academic excellence in all fields of medical sciences, along with the humanitarian events of the Baqai Foundation. He also added that; Apart from the medical university, Baqai Foundation's institutions are spread all over the city of Karachi, including various hospitals too.
Prof. Dr. Jameel (HOD Medicine) congratulated the parents of the graduating students whole-heartedly and welcomed them to the ceremony, on behalf of the institution and its learned faculty members. The graduating students belonged to numerous departments, including: MBBS, BDS, DPT, PHARM-D, Medical Technology, MSC Hematology, Diploma in laboratory Hematology, Diploma in Blood Transfusion, BSC Honors in Nursing, Diploma in Health Sciences (MPH), Health Management (MBA), EMBA, BBA HONS, PGD Diabetology.
Gold Medals were distributed by the Guest of Honor, Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, among the top graduates of medicine, dental surgery, pharmacy and allied medical disciplines. In addition, 60 students were awarded PhD, MPhil and business administration degrees.
Dr Sehrish Khan received Gold Medal from the chief guest Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan for her most outstanding academic performance in 2012 batch with distinction in Operative Dentistry and Prosthodontics. Baqai ‘s Principal Dr Kashif Ikram is also seen in the picture.
