KARACHI- Dental News Pakistan once again will be celebrating the World Oral Health Day with the support of PDA and FDI across 14 cities in Pakistan. The event will be held simultaneously all over Pakistan on the 20th March 2015.
Dental News Pakistan, PDA and FDI World Dental Federation will be celebrating the World Oral Health Day 2015 (WOHD2015) ‘Smile for life’ campaign to remind people everywhere about the importance of looking after their teeth and gums in collaboration with Shield Pakistan. Dr Saqib Rashid President Pakistan Dental Association has promised to extend full support and is working closely with Dental News to make the event a success by reaching out to as many people as possible.
Shield Corporation is one of the leading companies in Oral Healthcare and has been instrumental in the success of the World Oral Health Day in Pakistan. This CSR initiative from Shield Corporation is praiseworthy as through World Oral Health Day the oral hygiene message reached out to 14 cities and 34 institutions across Pakistan. The mega event comprising of School Mela in Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad and Multan covered 15000 plus students. In 2014 courtesy our sponsors, we were able to spread the oral health awareness message to a countrywide audience of over 25000 people in one day.
The Govt. of Pakistan had also passed a bill on recommendation of Dr. Arif Alvi, a senior dentist and sitting Member of National Assembly in Pakistan to celebration 20th of March every year as the national day of oral health in Pakistan.
World Oral Health Day is celebrated throughout the world on 20th March each year with a wide range of awareness-raising activities organized by dentists, dental students, National Dental Associations (NDAs) and corporate partners.
FDI President Dr Tin Chun Wong commented: “The ‘Smile for life’ campaign reminds us that oral disease can be prevented by practicing good oral hygiene throughout life, from childhood to mature adulthood.
After tripling the number of countries celebrating World Oral Health Day between and 2013 and 2014, we are now looking to reach an even larger audience in even more countries as well as online.”
Dental News Pakistan has been holding the World Oral Health Day celebrations in Pakistan since 2010 holding oral health awareness campaigns at Dental Clinics and hospitals in Pakistan. In 2014, Dental News conducted the campaign at more than 40 dental colleges and hospitals all over Pakistan.
The activity was widely appreciated by the Dental Associations in Pakistan as well as public in general.
