LAHORE: Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has ordered immediate measures to enhance
Hospitals’ security to avert incidents of violence in these facilities.
He issued the orders while presiding over a meeting held at his office to discuss improvements in healthcare facilities. The order has been issued in the backdrop of murder of an injured patient in the emergency ward of Mayo Hospital, Lahore, a couple of days back.
The meeting also decided that urban dispensaries in five cities, including Lahore, should be revamped to improve service delivery.
The chief minister emphasised the need for improving cleanliness standards at the public hospitals and ensure availability of essential amenities like air-conditioning, fans, and water coolers in the summer season.
Mr Naqvi also stressed the importance of engaging private anesthesiologists in district and tehsil headquarters hospitals.
The meeting also deliberated on the proposals to enhance the universal health insurance programme, informing the participants about forthcoming administrative improvements being introduced to better serve the individuals in need.
The participants were briefed that 100 ambulances have been provided to primary and secondary healthcare facilities in the province, and an additional fleet of 112 ambulances will also be arranged for the purpose.
They were also informed that digital system is being employed to monitor patients’ treatment in rural and regional hospitals, while efforts are underway to achieve higher-quality services at 119 rural health centres, while disposable bed sheets for emergencies and three-colour bed sheets have been provided to the district and tehsil headquarters hospitals.
Provincial health ministers Dr Javed Akram, Dr Jamal Naseer, secretaries of health, finance and C&W departments, CEO Punjab Health Initiative Management Company and others attended the meeting.
