LAHORE: To participate in Dubai Expo 2020 and highlight the achievements and potential of the government in the sector and pull foreign investments in health-related projects, Punjab's Health Department committee reached UAE.
Prof. Javed Akram, Vice-Chancellor, University of Health Sciences (UHS), Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal, Vice Chancellor King Edward Medical University (KEMU) and Prof. Faisal Dar, Dean, Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute and Research Centre (PKLI), Lahore, visited UAE to attend Dubai Expo on the direction of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar.
November month has been given to Punjab province in Dubai Expo 2021 to showcase its achievements and opportunities in various sectors.
Thousands of students and faculty members participated virtually from more than a hundred medical and dental institutions across Punjab.
The members of Punjab's delegation presented their proposals to foreign investors in a webinar.
Prof. Javed Akram said that a Punjab Medical City was going to be installed at Jinnah Campus, which would accommodate a 500-bed hospital, biotechnology park and an international medical college besides other amenities. He further said that the Silk Road Clinical Trial Center had also been set up for the conduction of research on vaccines and medicines at the new campus.
Dr Faisal Dar gave a presentation on his organisation's performance with regard to organ transplantation and its services.
Professor Khalid Masood Gondal said his university had provided excellent 24/7 telemedicine services during the COVID-19 pandemic. He added that telemedicine was a new domain in Pakistan and had a lot of room for development.
