Karachi: The graduate students of Jinnah Medical and Dental College (JMDC) organised a silent protest at the university campus due to the sole issue of being underpaid.

The current House Officers of the medical and dental college claim that while the Supreme Court allows all medical universities to provide a payment of Rs. 45,000 to their students, JMDC has allocated a mere Rs. 22,000 to its House Officers. After attempts to reason with the administration failed, students rose their banners to raise awareness on the issue.

The students have also claimed in a video, circulating social media, that they have been ‘manhandled’ during their peaceful protest and request the public to raise their voice for the same cause.

The medical and dental students of JMDC have performed well this year in their annual examinations conducted by the Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) , achieving 578 distinctions in MBBS and 348 distinctions in BDS. The students therefore, took to the streets, to be heard on the matter.
