ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi, while underscoring the significance of creating awareness about children born with cleft lips and palates, highlighted how prompt treatment could significantly enhance their quality of life.
His remarks came during a meeting with a delegation of the Pakistan Cleft Lip Association and the British Plastic Surgery Team.
Led by the association Chairman Dr Ejaz Bashir, the delegation, along with officials from the federal health ministry, discussed the pressing issue with the president.
During the meeting, President Alvi stressed the need for addressing current health challenges and incorporating cutting-edge technology to meet future healthcare needs effectively.
The delegation provided insights into the commendable work and initiatives of the association, apprising the president of its efforts in providing free, high-quality treatment facilities to deserving communities in Gujrat.
The delegation also highlighted the challenges faced by children with cleft lips and palates, including difficulties with eating and speaking, as well as the prevalence of discriminatory attitudes in society.
President Alvi lauded the efforts of the association in providing treatment and conducting surgeries for children with cleft lips and palates, terming it as a crucial step toward improving the lives of affected children.
