Private medical colleges defy Punjab's central induction policy

LAHORE: Representatives of private medical colleges in Lahore stood in firm opposition to the Punjab government's Central Induction Policy and advised students to directly approach the colleges for admissions.

In a unified move, the Pakistan Association of Private Medical and Dental Institutions (PAMI) boycotted the central induction meeting and protested against the University of Health Sciences (UHS) and its policies.

A spokesperson for PAMI, in a statement, emphasised the necessity for students to apply directly to private medical colleges. The spokesperson highlighted that admissions would be conducted in compliance with the guidelines set by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC).

According to the association, the Punjab government's policy contradicts the regulations established by the PMDC.

It asserted that the hastily devised admission policy of the government is not acceptable to the private colleges. Furthermore, they said the PMDC's policy allows each private medical college to autonomously manage their administrative matters.
