Academy of Continuing Health Education & Research (ACHER) has successfully conducted its second and third contact sessions of the long course in restorative dentistry/endodontics. The course was launched in October, 2014 and encompasses different aspects of restorative dentistry, fixed prosthesis, endodontics and pediatric dentistry.
The second and third contact sessions were dedicated to anterior and posterior crown preparation for all types of indirect restorations, including; porcelain fused to metal, all porcelain, veneers, etc. One of the highlights of the third contact session is the hands-on exercises for the placement of mini-implants and their use in providing removable prosthesis. The contact session was facilitated by Dr. Faisal Moeen, Dr. Saima Azam, and Dr. Adil Shahnawaz. During the session different aspects of anterior and posterior crown preparation were taught and practiced on phantom heads.
During the contact sessions the participants did hands-on exercises for chair side temporization of the prepared crowns. The participants were encouraged to practice different designs of veneer preparation on phantom heads. Different laboratory procedures that are important for the success of different types of restorations and their clinical applications were also discussed. The next contact session covering pedodontics and periodontology will be held in February, 2015.
