PRCS conducts training sessions to counter ongoing heat-wave

KARACHI: In the continuity of its capacity building initiative for the persisting heat wave, the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) Sindh in collaboration with the World Food Programme (WFP) successfully conducted its second four-day Training of Trainers (ToT) at its training institute at the Hilal-e-Ahmer House.

The objective of the workshop was to prepare trainers for providing training to volunteers in different areas of Karachi for heat-stroke rehabilitation amid the heat-waves in the city.

About 20 participants from different organizations, including the WFP, Federal Civil Defence Training School, Saylani Welfare, Alamgir Welfare Trust, PRCS staff, and volunteers, received the training.

In this regard, the PRCS also established four on-job heat-wave training camps for the participants of the first batch of ToT. The three-day camps were established in the major areas of Karachi, including Teen Talwar, Gurumandir, Orangi Town, and Liaquatabad.

It helped in facilitating the participants for training other staff and volunteers on heat-stroke rehabilitation. The training of the trainers was jointly conducted by the disaster management, health, and training department of the PRCS, Sindh.

Another ToT is also planned on the upcoming month to establish a better response to the soaring temperatures.
