Highlighting the importance of oral health, Khyber Medical University Peshawar Oral Pathology Head Dr Benish Aleem says keeping the oral cavity clean is a must as it is the doorway to the human body and the overall health is linked to the health of the mouth.
In her World Oral Health Day message, she advised twice-a-day brushing of teeth, and seeing the dentists at least every six month.
Dr Benish also warned against use of high-sugar diet and fizzy drinks, besides tobacco smoking and chewing, to avoid dental decay.
The expert advised against self-medication in case of feeling toothache or sensitivity, saying early diagnosis and prevention is far easier than curing the chronic disease, decay and permanent extractions.
“Your confidence, happiness and well-being are important, so please take care of your beautiful smile.” she says.
